Menu introductions at top fast casual chains jumped in 2026 by 50% compared to the first half of 2025, outpacing every other restaurant segment tracked on Datassential’s Launches & Ratings platform.

The segment produced 692 new, returning and limited-time offers during the six-month stretch, up from 461 a year earlier. That pushed its share to 21.5% from 19.2% of all LTOs captured by Launches & Ratings during the period, up 19.2% compared to the same period a year earlier.
QSR launches, meanwhile, rose 32% and Casual Dining’s grew 14%. Midscale was the only segment to contract, down 2.6% year over year and shedding 2.6 points of overall LTO share.
The growth wasn’t spread evenly across the menu. Non-Alcoholic Beverage (+57 items), Sandwich (+44), Appetizer & Side (+24), Specialty Entree (+24), Breakfast Pastry (+24) and Burger (+20) drove most of the segment’s net gain. Combo & Value Meal offers, meanwhile, contracted 35% within fast casual, consistent with the broader value-meal pullback seen industry-wide in the LTO space this year.
The rising volume comes as fast casual chains are reshaping how they introduce items. LTOs made up 82.9% of all menu introductions in the segment during the first half, up from 73.5% a year earlier, while permanent new-item introductions fell to 3.5% of the total from 12.8%.
